Lucia’s Birthday Dinner

Went out with Andy and Lucia to celebrate Lucia’s birthday tonight.  I seem to know quite a few people who have birthdays in late August (a couple of Leos, but most of them Virgos).  It’s also odd that none of them are close friends with me except Lucia (and not counting net friends from Taiwan).Lucia and I bussed to Granville and Broadway to wait for Andy.  We went into Chapters and looked at some books briefly.  Lucia told me that she don’t read much romance novels nowadays.  It makes me wonder why I still read romance novel as my main genre of interest?  Because I write romance stories?    Or because I am still at a naive stage?  I guess it’s kind of strange that a guy likes romance stories anyway.  I have interests in history and politics, but I seem to like non-fiction work in those areas rather than fiction.  Maybe I will try spy or alternate history novels later…  Tom Clancy anyone?

We tried going to a French restaurant at Granville and 7th Ave., but it turned out that it was closed (for the day I guess).  We ended up going “back” to Richmond and had Japanese food at 南 on Alexandra Road.  It is operated by the same people from Gyzoa King in Downtown.  The food there is quite good, on par with Guu, and so are the sizes of the dishes…

But I would take good taste over big portions any time.

After dinner we went to Moxies (a restaurant on the ground floor of the Sandman hotel on Bridgeport Rd.), to have desert.  We ordered a Banana Xango (pronounced Chan’go as instructed by the menu) and a Mocha Cheese Cake.  The cheese cake was good (it actually feels like a cake rather than a block of cheese), but the Xango was even better.

A happy night overall, with good food and fun talking to each other.  🙂
